The Texas Ramp Project builds wheelchair ramps for disabled or elderly people who can’t afford to buy one. Since incorporating in 2006, the Texas Ramp Project has built more than 12,000 safe, durable ramps across the state.
Referrals come via third party health care providers such as social workers at hospitals, home health agencies, dialysis and rehab centers as well as Area Agency on Aging offices, DARS, DADS etc. All referrals are made via the web site at texasramps.org.
Direct referrals from clients or families are not accepted.
In Wise county someone making a referral would select North Central Texas (which includes Wise County) and once in the NCT pages select "Client Referral" at which point a form pops up that the referral source needs to complete. They complete the form and submit it electronically.
Once that happens the web site sends it to the region coordinator and also enters it into the database automatically. At that point someone will be tasked with surveying the site and discussing the design of the access ramp with the client and/or family. When a design is agreed upon the ramp is scheduled for construction.
